Weekend

Rides:
Sat. 52 miles/avg. unknown.
It rained.. I was cold.. but went up the hills fast. So I'm happy with this ride.

Sun. 47 miles/19.2 average.
Windy.. very windy. Got to the start late due to a race which had closed off a road. But I caught the group in about 6 miles... though I killed myself to do it. Didn't hydrate enough on this ride. I need to make it a point to drink more even if it is cold.

Need to start running again.. and swimming a lot more.

Bah.

Thursday

Ride:
32 miles/20+ average.

I need to get a computer.

Or a powertap.

Probably going to go with the latter.. since I like new toys.

Tuesday Ride

Ride:
~32 miles/22.4 avg

I got into a yelling match with a guy today. Was about 5 bikes back and they weren't pointing out holes. So I almost ate it twice in a half-mile stretch so I was yelling and cursing quite a bit. Someone got all in my face and we argued for a bit... then he fell back to complain to someone. But I talked to the president of the club after the ride and he was glad someone else is yelling at those idiots. The guys in question are not club members and really drive everyone crazy.

After the ride the "captain" of these guys... comes up to me and explains that I should be nicer. That the guys in question are riding as hard as they can (like 25mph.. heh) and can't even see the holes they are working so hard. I pointed out the flaws in his logic.. that I don't think people who can't keep the pace and not see road hazards/stop signs/traffic lights should be at the front trying to set the pace.

Freaking idiots.

End rant

Ride/Swim

Ride:
38 miles, moderate.

Swim:
~2000 yards

I'm having issues with my breathing while swimming... I think I'm breathing too much, or inhaling too much. I feel that I'm running out of breath pretty quickly... but couldn't inhale more if I wanted to. Any tips?

yesterday

Ride:
40+, 22 average

Decent pace, some nice hills and sprints. Though some of the other riders are a little.. amateurish.

Last week...

Sorry it's been a while, this week has been crazy at the pool.

Friday Swim:

I went 2700 yards. 700 yard stretchout and then 10 x 200. I felt like I haven't been in the water in a long time. Hopefully that feeling will pass soon.

Dave, I got the saddle yesterday. I am hoping to get it on m bike soon, but I've been really busy with work and classes, so it may be a couple of days before I can get a good ride on it.

Friday and Saturday

Swam a little last night.. probably no more than 2000 yards. Just was stretching out a little.

Saturday:
Ride - 53 miles.
It was a nice ride.. hot, hilly, and fast. Broke away with another early on and held off the pack through 27 miles. Joined up again at the gas station, then rode hard all the way back. 19.6 average for the day, not bad considering we nearly held a 20 average while it was just two of us.. with 2 pretty decent climbs.

Ok, I'm going to go pass out now.

Thursday

Sorry for the delay.

Ride:
35 miles or so. Went decently fast, ended up with just 3 of us by the end at the front. Though it did feel quite slow compared to the speed I'd have preferred to go. Did a little motor-pacing when I a car pulled out in front of me on a downhill.

Swim:
Easy swim, probably only around 1500 meters total. Swam immediately after my ride, so used a pull buoy for most of it.

Planning on hitting the pool again tonight. I feel that is my weakest discipline right now. Though I've not run in awhile, perhaps I need to start doing that as well.

Saddle

Michael, your new seat is on its way. Let me know what you think.

Location

the two locations looking the best to me so far are louisville and madison. i talked to a guy i used to ride with who has done about 20 IM races and he said madison would be great to do but the did just suffer a big flood so he didn't know what the current state of the city was. I'm cool with either location, provided we can get in since lake placid filled on site and there was no online registration. or we could do a race in japan.

Rock Climbing

Today, Lauren and I went down to the LR rock climbing center by our house. The place is pretty cool, once you learn how to do everything, they let you go climb on your own. I have found it to be some pretty awesome strength training. After the first climb, my arms are burning. I am getting better, but progress is slow.

Group Ride

Ride:
32 miles - 20+ average.

Tuesdays around here mean a decently fast group ride. There is another group that I sometimes go with.. they go significantly faster.. but are also bigger jerks.

Won both sprints.. but there weren't any decent people attempting them. Beat most people up on the hills and kept dropping people when it was my turn to pull. Perhaps I need to ride with the faster group.

Swimming

My swimming ability now sucks. Tonight's workout (care of Sean) hurt a lot.. but it was worth it. Just gotta get back in the water more.

600 warm-up
-200 swim
-200 IM pull
-200 IM kick

4x200
8x100
16x50

Didn't get to finish my last set since the pool closed. I need to remember they close the pool 30 minutes before the gym.
